Daniel Dragon Spanovich
December 1, 1958 ~ April 8, 2022
Daniel Dragon Spanovich, 63, of Weirton, WV, passed away on April 8th, 2022, after a brief illness, with his family by his side. Dan was the hardest-working, kindest, big-hearted man we knew. He loved deeply and selflessly. He had a larger-than-life personality, and his spark in this world will be forever missed.
Dan was born on December 1, 1958, in Weirton. He started from nothing and, through pure grit and determination, became one of the largest real estate developers in the area. His real hobby was work, and he loved every minute of it. He first started Dan’s Plumbing and Heating, later growing to Three Springs Car Wash and three other local car washes. He constructed Penn Place Plaza and Wash World from the ground up, along with too many other projects to name. More recently he redeveloped Three Springs Crossings – his proudest achievement. Dan always had a vision for his hometown and poured all his energy into achieving that vision.
Dan never stopped learning – he spent his life asking questions, researching, and figuring things out along the way. He always made it look easy. His keen instincts for business and construction are legendary, and live on in his son, who followed in his footsteps to develop real estate in Pittsburgh. Dan always tried to mentor the young men he knew, helping them to realize their potential in business and life. He was generous with his time and was there for anyone who needed him.
As much as he loved his work, he loved his family even more. He and his wife, Linda, were high school sweethearts, and married for 43 years. They worked side by side for years. His children and grandchildren were his proudest achievement. His special bond with his daughter, Ashley, inspired her to start her own business. His childlike nature made him the perfect playmate for his beloved granddaughters, and he was always by their sides – even sliding down a children’s playground slide if they asked him.
We will all miss that twinkle in his eye and his mischievous grin that told us that he was up to something. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family or community.
Dan is survived by his family, who loved him dearly: his wife, Linda, and two children, Dan (Emily) Spanovich, and Ashley Spanovich, and grandchildren Mila and Quinn; his sisters, Diane (Larry) Jones, and Sara (Ken) Esposito, and brother Sam (Carol) Spanovich, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Douglas Spanovich and his parents, Dragon and Frances Spanovich.
Private services and visitation will be held at the Greco - Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV
Donations may be made in Dan’s memory to Sacred Heart of Mary Church Bell Tower Fund, 200 Preston Avenue Weirton, WV 26062; the Serbian Men’s Club, PO BOX 2345 Weirton, WV 26062 or a charity of your choice.

Our warmest condolences,
Though I never really knew this man, I recall knowing the kid in high school who went straight to work after school as I went off to no-where. Not a surprise, he succeeded in life and I only existed. He came from humble beginnings and rose to success, I criticized him as a child and admired him as a man, and now I mourn his loss never knowing this giant in my home town. May my God, our God, receive him in grace and peace. May our God bring peace, love and hope to the family of this man, Daniel “the Dragon” Spanovich, who left his mark in Weirton WV. Humble Admirer A.E.H.

Linda and family sorry for your loss.
I will always be thankful to dan spanovich he gave me my start at age 17 into the hvac trade, which I have stayed in for the past 23 years . He saw potential in me when I didn’t see it in myself and was ready to quit after being overwhelmed in the service side of the business, he moved me to the installation side. He gave me the time to learn, even when I made mistakes he would say “that’s fine” just fix it right learn from your mistake . Thank you Dan rest in peace .
✝️ For all that is grace. All that is holy and peace. Blessed be his soul.

Dan will be missed deeply by all who ever come into contact with him and one who will be remembered always with high regard.
