Daniel Lee McAtee, 63, of Weirton, WV died Monday, September 28, 2015 at his home.
Born December 19, 1951 in Steubenville, OH, he was a son of the late John and Helen Sobieraj McAtee. He was also preceded in death by his brother Ronald McAtee.
Dan spent his entire career in Law Enforcement, initially with the Weirton Police Department before joining the Hancock County Sheriff's Department. Dan eventually retired from Mountaineer Racetrack and Resort, as the Director of Security.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Terry Timberlake McAtee of Weirton, whom he married December 14, 1973; daughter Jaime (Jason) Kelly of Weirton; brother John McAtee of Arkansas; sisters Patty (Steve) Cox and Ruth Hartley both of Weirton; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his two grandchildren, Tyler and Jaidyn whom he considered the "loves of his life".
Visitation will be held Friday from 1pm until the 5pm funeral service at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Reverend Larry Barkley will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tyler and Jaidyn Kelly College Fund.

Aunt Terry, I’m truly sorry for your loss! I can’t imagine loosing my husband and best friend. Jaime, there’s nothing I could say to ease the pain, I’m sorry. I could never imagine loosing a parent either! My heart breaks for Tyler and Jaidyn, I remember what it feels like to loose a grandfather while so young! I love you guys!
