David Lewis Thomas
May 11, 1935 ~ September 6, 2022
David Lewis Thomas, 87, formerly of Weirton, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2022, at Brownstown Forest View Assisted Living, Brownstown, MI. Born May 11, 1935, in Steubenville, OH, David was the son of the late David S. and Agnes Thomas.
On November 8, 1957, he married Dorothy Kallos, and shortly after, David was called to serve active duty for his country in the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea and Japan for 14 months and oversaw the training of German Shepherds for the Military Police.
In 1960, David and Dorothy were blessed by the birth of their son David P. Thomas. Then, on October 29, 1988, their son David married Joanne Trzaskoma, and together they have two daughters, Marisa and Lauren.
After 36 years of dedicated service as a locomotive engineer, David retired from the Weirton Steel Transportation Department. With an infinite passion for golfing, David utilized his newfound leisure time practicing hitting the greens at several golf courses. He cherished the time with his wife and enjoyed their many trips as a couple to visit family in Kos, Greece. David and Dorothy made many memories together and loved each other endlessly. Alas, on January 31, 2004, David lost the love of his life, Dorothy.
David later moved to Michigan to be closer to his son and his family that he loved very much. He leaves behind his son, David and his wife Joanne, granddaughters, Marisa (TJ) Hewett and Lauren (Dan) Kelly, sister, Sherry (Joe) Adamczyk and a host of family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Keeping with David’s wishes, his visitation, funeral service, and committal service will be private. He will be placed to rest next to his wife Dorothy at the Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church 3528 West Street P.O. Box 128 Weirton, WV 26062.

Our warmest condolences,
When Perry and I were newlyweds, Uncle David and Aunt Dorothy welcomed us into their home whenever we visited Weirton from Delaware. They made me feel instantly like family and explained to me all the nuances of Greek, Psaros, and West VA culture. Between them, they knew it all. I shall forever be thankful for these loving memories and their kindness. Carol and Perry Psaros
