D. “Ken” Bever passed away peacefully at Trinity West Hospital surrounded by his loving family on September 23, 2024. Ken was a fighter and had been battling cancer since 2015. He was 85 years old. Born on February 13, 1939, in Wheeling, WV, Ken was the son of Evelyn Rentsch Bever and Delmar “Red” Bever.

Ken was a graduate of Weir High School in 1957 and retired after 38 years at Weirton Steel as an operator on the cleaning line in the Tin Mill. Ken was a proud member of the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club.

Ken dedicated a huge part of his life to coaching and following sports, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. If you knew Ken, you knew he was their number one fan. Ken was also the ultimate Pittsburgh Steelers fan and was a season ticket holder for over 50 years. He attended 6 Steeler Super Bowls and 1 Pro Bowl and spent time traveling and collecting a wide range of Pittsburgh and other professional and collegiate sports memorabilia.

Ken enjoyed landscaping and spending time outdoors in the spring and summer months tending to his plants and flowers. He loved sharing his knowledge of landscaping and gardening with his family and friends. Ken also enjoyed dining out at local restaurants with his wife, family, and friends and vacationing in North Myrtle Beach. Ken was a great dancer and loved listening to the oldies and attending concerts and shows. Ken was quite a conversationalist and could strike up a chat with anyone. He was also an active member of New Life Worship. Ken adored his friends, and above all, he loved his family.

In addition to his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his brothers, William Bever, and David Bever; his sister, Donna Licata; and his beloved dog, Trudi.
Remembering him with so much love and admiration: his wife of 25 years, Connie Bever; his children, Sandra Hansen, Thomas (Jara) Bever, and Christine (David) Dalrymple; his step-children, Brett Bowlen (Darla Shepard) & Bobby (Amy) Bowlen; his grandchildren, Paige (Brandon) Woofter, Madison Dalrymple, Ross (Justina) Hickman, Garrett & Lexington Bever, and Cole & Aiden Hansen; his great-grandchildren, Gianna, Rowan, Raelyn, and Lawson Hickman and Beau Bowlen; amongst several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place Friday, September 27, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
