dolores pete

Dolores Grace Pete, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the Weirton Geriatric Center’s Enchanted Garden. She was ninety-four years old.

Born on May 21, 1930, in Holiday’s Cove to Joseph and Mary Cecehovsky Poprik.

Dolores embraced a life centered around family and faith. She found joy in being a homemaker and was a woman who cherished the simple pleasures, dedicating herself to those she loved. Her family was always the heart of her world, and she took immense pride in nurturing her loved ones with warmth and kindness.

A member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, her gentle spirit and unwavering love for her family and friends touched all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength.

Dolores will be dearly missed by all whose lives she graced, and her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Louis Pete and son Louis Anthony Pete, brothers Joseph and George Poprik, sisters Anna Burns, Mary Zwierzchowski, Helen Colaizzo, Sue Blair, Pauline Lawrence, and Verna Koniski.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Gary Pete of Pittsburgh, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family can visit Dolores’ family on Friday, November 8, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, where a Liturgy of the Word Service will be held on Saturday November 9, at 10 am.

Burial will follow immediately in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
