Donna Jean (Smith) Grant of Weirton, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Allegheny General Hospital on May 1 st . She was 82.

Donna was born on August 28, 1940, in Steubenville, OH. She was the oldest of two daughters born to Maurice Dean and Gertrude Mae Smith.

On February 2, 1963, Donna married her high school sweetheart, Terrence Alan Grant. Terry worked as a plant manager for Air Products and Chemicals. In the early years, Donna worked as a bookkeeper at the People’s Bank. Then in the 70’s, she attended the Wheeling Barber College and enjoyed over 25 happy years working at Paul’s Barber Shop before retiring. She loved her clientele and friends, and even after her retirement she cut hair for family and friends in the basement of her home.  In their 59 years of marriage, Donna and Terry were blessed with three children and seven grandchildren. Sadly, Terry passed away on April 27, 2022. Prior to Terry’s passing, Donna and Terry were inseparable. They enjoyed daily walks, golfing, winters in Myrtle Beach, and meeting their many friends for breakfast.  After Terry’s death, Donna continued to enjoy daily walks, visits with family and friends, and regular breakfasts and dinners out with friends.

Donna nourished her faith at the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church.

Donna will be remembered with love and admiration by her sons, Troy (Maria) Grant of Atlanta, GA, Tim (Amy) Grant of Weirton, and her daughter, Shelby (Don) Gianni of Weirton; her grandchildren, Arden Grant, Harrison Grant, Austin Grant, Morgan Grant, Thomas Gianni, David Gianni, Julia Gianni; her sister, Judith Smith Wilkinson of Morgantown, WV, her aunt, Charleen Smith Underwood of Morgantown, WV, and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A private family funeral service will be held at the convenience of her family, and interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church, 121 Ivy Street, Weirton, WV 26062

Donna will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered as a kind and genuine person who loved life, her family, and friends.
