Donna Kaye Licata of Weirton passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital in Weirton. She was 74 years old.
She was born on December 28, 1949, a daughter to D. K. (Red) Sr. and Evelyn Rentsch Bever.
Donna graduated from Weir High School in 1967 and obtained her degree in liberal arts from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
Donna was a loving person who always put others ahead of herself. She never forgot the birthday, anniversary, or any other meaningful event of a friend or family member. In addition to her love for crossword puzzles and math, she was an avid reader. Donna enjoyed writing letters, sending cards, or even a text message to let someone know she was thinking about them or simply to wish them a great day.
Donna loved nature and had a green thumb for growing plants and flowers. When the kids were young, she raised several animals. Donna loved to cook, especially for her three boys and granddaughters, bringing them together for the holidays. Donna was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. She worked for nearly 30 years at Walmart and adored the Waltons’ story. Over the years, Donna volunteered for various community events and helped with local and national elections.
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years Charles James Licata who sadly passed on September 20, 2008, her daughter Marisa Licata, and brothers Bill and David Bever.
Left to cherish memory with love and admiration are her sons Christopher, Michael, and Jared Licata, granddaughters Isabella and Vanessa Licata, and brother Kenneth (Connie) Bever all of Weirton.
Friends will be received Tuesday, January 30, from 3 pm up until the time of the 6 pm service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Donna will be buried next to her husband Charles at Saint Paul’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donna’s name to St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV. 26062.
