Doris Gurrera, 91, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2005 at the D & D Quality Care in Weirton. Born August 25, 1914 in Calabria, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Domenico and Mary Margherita Ambrosio Bevilacqua. Doris was also preceded in death by her husband Samuel in 1968, son Phil in 2003, brothers Gregory Bevilacqua and Vince DeFelice and sisters Teresa Gaylord, Carmela Renzetti and Laura Lucian. For many years, Doris cooked at St. Paul School. She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, St. Paul Christian Mothers, Weirton Moose Lodge 688, V.F.W. 2716 and Three Score Senior Citizens. Doris’s survivors include her sons Vince and his wife Madeline, Frederick “George” and his wife Stephanie all of Weirton, Richard and his wife Diane of Brandon, FL and Tom of Havre de Grace, MD; daughter-in-law Pauline Gurrera of New Bern, NC; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday 1-3 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church with Reverend Father Tony Thurston presiding. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Once I stopped into the Weirton Moose Lodge and when they found out I was related to Aunt Dora, I was treated like royalty. So many people will miss her.
