Dorothy B. Carnes

Dorothy B. Carnes, 72, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the Weirton Geriatric Center. Born July 13, 1933 in Weirton, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Badilia Borza, Sr. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband William H. Carnes who died May 14, 2005 whom she married September 8, 1956 and brothers John Borza and Daniel Borza, Jr.
Dorothy was a homemaker who, during her working career, worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Moss, a nurse’s aid for the Weirton Geriatric Center, bus driver for the Northern Panhandle Head Start Program and Director of Transportation for Dr. Anwar. She was a member of the F.O. Eagles Aerie No. 344 in Wheeling, WV. She also served in the WAC Division of the US Army from 1953-1954.
Dorothy’s survivors include her sons Joseph E. Carnes and his wife Dina of Weirton and William H. Carnes of Wintersville, OH; daughters Cynthia Williamson and her husband Charles, Tina M. Thompson and her husband Frederick all of Colliers and Elizabeth A. Klepp and her husband David of Wellsburg; brothers Harold Borza and his wife Jennie of New Port Richey, FL and Costi Borza of Sun City, CA; sisters Violet Noel of Long Beach, CA and Elizabeth Satkowski of Sun City, CA; grandchildren Jodi Chafin, Mandy Carnes, Joe Carnes, Jr., Vanessa Swickard, Charles Williamson, Tiffany N. Wright and Kayla Thompson and great-grandchildren Anthony Goffoli and Gianna Chafin.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00AM Thursday. Interment will be at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 10 and Weirton Honor Guard.
