Dorothy Kendrick
February 16, 1922 ~ January 22, 2015
Dorothy Kendrick, 92, of Weirton passed away, after a short illness, on Thursday January 22, 2015, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North.
Born on February 16, 1922, in Mingo Junction, OH, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Kopcha Rusen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John T. Kendrick, her two sons, John D. and Nicholas Kendrick; and her two brothers, Ted and Jack Rusen.
A very devoted mother, and grandmother, Dorothy prayed the Rosary daily. She enjoyed crocheting, making crafts and playing pinochle and most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, Christian Mothers and a former member of the Legion of Mary.
She is survived by her two sons, Thomas and Barbara Kendrick and Donald and Kathy Kendrick all of Weirton, WV; her two daughters in law, Sheila Kendrick of Weirton, WV and Cheryl Kendrick of Navarre, FL; her eight grandchildren, Sara (Michael) Payne, Laura (Christopher) Smith, Jonathan Kendrick, Jason Kendrick, Jacob (Melissa) Kendrick, Joshua and Justin Kendrick and Nicole Ferrar; her seven great grandchildren, Hunter and Halle Payne, Tanner and Christopher Smith, Nathaniel and Emma Kendrick and Jackie O. Hesske.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton.
Rev Fr. Tony Thurston will preside.
Entombment will follow at the Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Weirton Madonna High School or to Valley Hospice.
I have very fond memories of Mrs. Kendrick. My grandmother and I would go across the street and I would play in the kitchen while she would visit. I remember when the new house was built on East Parkway and the pedal car. Times I enjoyed.
