dorothy huffman

Dorothy “Ruth” Huffman of Weirton, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at her daughter’s residence with her loving family by her side.  She was 85 years old.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA, on January 14, 1938, one of six children to John Cox and Dorothy Mae Hartung Harris.

Dorothy was a member of the 1955 graduating class of Weir High School, she enjoyed being a Homemaker, line, square dancing, and playing cards.

Dorothy was formerly married to Eugene LeMasters.

If you knew Dorothy, you knew that she was a very Christian woman, a woman of faith; she nourished that faith with her family at Crossroads Church in Weirton.

Dorothy loved being a grandma, her family referred to her as having high energy, she needed all the energy she could find to keep up with her grandchildren.

One of Dorothy’s memorable attributes was shared by her daughter Jane, “every time she was out in public when she would see a veteran, she would approach them and thank them for their service.”

Dorothy’s indelible imprint she left on her family will be one that is cherished forever.  Her love for her family has transcended through three generations, if her love is continued to be shed throughout her family, she will always be with them.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Clarence Harris, brother Jackie Johnson and son-in-law William Davis, sisters Margie Thomas and Joan Kimble, and brother-in-law Larry Kimble.

Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory with love and heart-felt admiration are her sons, David (Phyllis) Harris of New Cumberland, Mark ( Donita) Harris, Wayne (Monya) Harris both of Weirton, daughters, Donna Davis, Jane (Scott) Holt both of Weirton, step-daughters Thelma (Butch) Geer of New Cumberland, Barbara LeMasters, sisters Jeannie Kimble, and Judy (Joe) Ellis, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 29, 2023, at 10 AM at Crossroads Church, 308 Penco Rd, Weirton, where her memorial service will follow at 11 AM.

Pastor Joe Ellis will officiate.

Burial will be at the convenience of Dorothy’s family.
