It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Alan Reese.
Doug passed away after a seven-month battle with esophageal cancer on Sunday February 12, 2023, at Allegheny General Hospital. He was 67.
Doug was born on October 20, 1955 in Weirton, WV, the third of five children born to Donald Lee and Eileen Marie Slates Reese.
A 1973 graduate of Weir High School, Doug was a gifted handy man who provided for his family by working 47 years as a millwright at Weirton Steel/ ISG/Arcelor Mital.
Doug enjoyed golfing with his family and friends at Woodview Golf Course. He also recorded three holes in one at Pleasant Valley Country Club. Even though he was an avid golfer his family came first. He was very supportive of his sons as he was a volunteer coach for soccer and a boy scout troop leader for troop 65 where his sons earned the honor of Eagle Scout. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife Karen as they took walks with their dog, Marley or just went on a drive on our area’s back roads.
Most of all, Doug will be remembered as a supportive husband, father, and grandfather who always put the needs of others before his own.
Sadly, Doug was preceded in death 36 years ago by his father.
He will be remembered with love by his wife of 44 years, Karen Lenhart Reese; his two sons, Donnie (Garrett) Reese, and Tyler (Erica) Reese; his mother, Eileen Reese; his brothers, Donald (Mary Ann), David (Ruth) and Mark (Becky) Reese; his sister, Pam Drizake; his two beloved grandchildren, Savannah and Jack Reese; and several nieces and nephews
Visitation will be Thursday from 3 PM until time of funeral services at 7 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton.
Rev. Kevin Bowers will preside.
Memorial contributions may be made in Doug’s memory to The Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation Salgi.org.

God our father, your power brings us to birth, your providence guides our lives, and by your command we return to dust. I pray for Doug Reese, especicially for his family. May those who been dear to him in life find a place with you in heaven. Lord, those who die still live in your presence; their lives change but do not end. I pray in hope for his family, relatives and friends, and for all the dead known to you alone. In company with Christ who died and now lives may they rejoice in your kingdom where all our tears are wiped away. Unite Doug’s family together again as one family to sing your praise forever and ever.✝️
