Douglas Lee Sadler, 82, of Weirton passed away on July 4, 2020, at the Weirton Medical Center. Born on October 14, 1937, on Elm Street in Weirton, Doug was a son of the late Leslie Sadler and Burga Davisson Sadler Balon. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather Hubert Balon and his brother Lyle Sadler, Doug was a graduate of the Weir High Class of 1956, and the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, OH. He was employed at Weirton Steel Corporation for 34 years in the blast furnace sinter plant. Doug loved football and played semi-pro ball with the Steubenville Bandits and Toronto Tigers. He also loved horses and enjoyed leisure time with friends and family at the race track. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and the National School Booster’s Club. Doug will be remembered with love by his wife of 63 years, Anna Marie Buffone; his four sons, Blaine, Mark (Karen), Greg (Teresa) and Doug Sadler; his daughter, Shelley (Hayden) Greenlief; his nine grandchildren, Blaine M., Brendon, Mark, Christopher, Kindra and Aubrey Sadler, Brianna (Jeff) Lauttamus, Kayla (Ben)Busbey, and Hayden Greenlief; his six great-grandchildren, Ellie and Evan Lauttamus, Lilica and Layleeona Sadler, Beckham Busbey, and Juliana Evans; his stepbrother, Tom Balon; and his step-sister Patricia Chihocky. Visitation will be Tuesday 3 PM until 6 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street followed by a prayer service at 6 PM. Private entombment will be on Wednesday at Highland Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County Ambulance Service 1305 Pennsylvania Avenue Weirton, WV 26062.
