duane beal

Duane “Duke” Beal, 68, of New Manchester, WV, passed away on July 7, 2026.

Born in Rochester, PA and raised in Shippingport, PA, Duke was a son of the late H. Duane and Nellie Beal.

He is survived by his children Dee (Jay) Williams, Jeremie (Michelle) Beal, and Isaac (Kris) Beal.

Duke found great joy in the time he spent with his grandchildren: Haeleigh (Jarod) Kirkbride, Jillian Williams, Josie Golden, Crosbie, Henry, and Oliver Beal; as well as his great‑grandchildren Florence, Boston, and Theodore Kirkbride.

Duke is also survived by his siblings Cindy (Chip) Flaim, John (Shelly) Beal, and Rick (Darla) Beal, and by his life‑long friend Vance Leon Squires.

As a young man, Duke enjoyed the “occasional” Route 168 street race in his GTO, where he often won and may or may not have broken a timing chain. Throughout his life, he found his peace in the outdoors. He spent countless hours in the woods hunting, fishing, tracking and simply taking in the beauty of the natural world. His knowledge of local wildlife and plants was vast, and many of his children’s favorite memories revolve around learning from him: archery, tracking, identifying plants, and understanding the woods.

Duke had a quick wit and a teasing humor that never failed to make those around him smile. He especially loved stirring the pot with his grandchildren. His presence, his stories, and his laughter will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation on Friday from 10 AM until 1 PM at the Greco – Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Pastor James Rhodes will preside over the funeral services at 1 PM at the funeral home with interment to follow at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.

Duke requested that no flowers or gifts be sent. In his memory, the family asks that you spend time outdoors, take a kid fishing, and remember the words of John Muir: “And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.”
