Duke C. West, 82, of Weirton, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at his residence. He was born May 5, 1920, in Cordell, GA, the son of the late William H. and Ethel Felton West. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite L. West; their infant daughter, Blanche Elizabeth; his brother, Frank West; and his sister, Willie West. D.C. was a Maytag repairman, where he worked 40 years for Modern Home Appliance in Weirton. He was owner and operator of West Appliance Service. Duke also worked for the Weirton Steel Company as a lab technician. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Weirton. Duke is survived by two sons, William H. West III of Smithfield, OH, and Duke C. West, Jr. (Noel) of Sacramento, CA; two daughters, Carole Harris (Gene) of Weirton and Beverly West of Pleasanton, CA; two sisters, Marie Dickey and Laura Jennings, both of Weirton; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2002, from 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday.
