Earl Zagan

Earl Zagan, 86, loving husband, entrepreneur, world traveler, passed away Thursday November 5, 2009, at the Trinity Health Systems, West in Steubenville, OH.
Born on January 1, 1923, in Canton, OH, he was a son of the late John and Marie Milosan Zagan, Sr. and a stepson of the late Helen Zagan. He was also preceded in death by a niece, Linda Quesenberry.
Earl's love for flying began at the age of 16, when he started flying out of the Canton Airport. His flying skills served our country when Earl flew with his 4th Army Air Force Fighter Squadron from 1943 until 1946 during World War II.
Earl retired from Weirton Steel after 35 years of service, where he was an operator on the Automatic Scarfer Machine in the Blooming Mill for 27 Years. He also was the owner and operator of E.Z. Vending, and sold T.V. sets and shower doors and tub enclosures. Earl also worked with the credit bureau in Steubenville, OH.
When Earl was not working or traveling or fishing, he found great enjoyment caring for his immaculate yard and garden.
Earl was a member of the Saint George Romanian Catholic Cathedral Byzantine Rite Church in Canton, OH, and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Bogdan Zagan, whom he married on May 5, 1946, brother, John Zagan, Jr. of Canton, OH, sister in law, Minnie Bogdan of Imperial , PA, nieces and nephews, Paulette and Bill Galiotos of Imperial , PA, Darlene and Jim Fliger, of Bolivar OH, John Zagan, III and Cynthia Nagy of Columbus, OH; great nieces and nephews, Kathy (Mike) Fliger, April Hickle, Desa Quesenberry, Karilynn Galiotos, Adam (Lacey) Fliger, Andrew( Linette) Fliger, Charlie May, Bill Galiotos; great great nieces Alexis Fliger and Layna Hickle; and Godchildren, Melanie and Michael Baly.
Visitations will be 3-7 PM Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday.
Monsignor Gregory Duma will preside.
Entombment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum, Weirton.

My condolences to the Zagan family. Although I had not seen the Zagans lately, it was a pleasure to know Earl and listen to the many stories of his travels throughout the years. He will be missed.
