edda d'amico
Edda Iride D'Amico, 74, of Weirton passed away Saturday April 25, 2009, at the Weirton Medical Center. Edda was born on May 19, 1934 in Italy, a daughter of the late Ernesto and Rosetta Liberati Martini. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Americo D'Amico on June 27, 1995 and her son Robert D'Amico on September 23, 2008; a sister, Maria Rocchi in 2000. Edda, while visiting America in 1955, met Americo D'Amico and the couple was united in marriage in January of 1956. Together they were blessed with two children, a granddaughter and an extended family of nieces and nephews. Edda cared for her home and family, where she enjoyed cooking, gardening and wine making. Edda was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, Four Seasons, ISDA Weirtonian, Lodge and the Paesano Card Club. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Edda is survived by her daughter, Roseann Reed and her husband David of Follansbee, WV; her daughter in law Lisa D'Amico; granddaughter, Natalie D'Amico of Weirton, WV; two sisters, Emma Montanari of Rome, Italy; Adalgisa and Armando D'Amico of Weirton, WV; her extended family nieces and nephews, Joseph D'Amico, Joe and Maria DiBartolomeo and their children, Christina and Joey; Rocky and Michele Bragg and their children, Michaela and Monica; Michael and Michelle D'Amico and their children, Mikey and Nicholas. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Monday and 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Wednesday at the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. The Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer will preside. Entombment will follow at the Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to the D'Amico Scholarship Fund.

  4. Dear Roseann and Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved mother and our dear friend Edda. When my mother and I would visit from Florida, we always spent an afternoon with your mother. Despite our protestations, like a true Italian gourmet, she would whip up a five-star lunch for us within minutes! During our last visit together at your home, one of the last things Edda told me was that my mother was a great friend of hers. I will treasure her memory always for those kind words.   11. Dear Roseanne, I am so sorry for your losses. I will always remember your mom and how she walked all of the time. I passed her almost daily and would wave and say hello to her.
