Edward Anthony Ptaszek, 91, of Weirton passed away Friday December 7, 2018, at the Laurels of Steubenville. The son of the late Anthony and Mary Wianiarski Ptaszek, Edward was born in Carnegie, PA, on October 23, 1927. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret L. Johnson Ptaszek, and his sisters, Ann Mucha, Josephine Gribbin, Victoria Owen, and Blanche Kessler. Following high school graduation, Edward served his country during World War II with the United States Army. After returning home, he was employed with Weirton Steel and continued his employment for nearly 30 years, retiring as a foreman on the Pickling lines. Edward loved to fish for bass. He often could be found on his boat fishing the area lakes alone or with his sons and family. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his friends shooting pool at the Weirton Senior Center. He was a member of Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and the American Legion Post 10. He will be remembered with love by his two sons, Mark and Tina Ptaszek of Weirton, and Michael and Celia Ptaszek of Wellsburg; and his grandchildren, Kelsey, Corey and Anthony Ptaszek.
