Edward “Leroy” Price of Weirton, the patriarch, and protector of his family passed away at his brother’s residence on Sunday, May 8, 2022, under the close and watchful eyes of his family and Valley Hospice. He was 68 years old. He was born July 8, 1953, one of six children born to the late Onal Lester and Norma Thompson Price. Leroy was a member of the 1972 graduating class of Weir High School and the Weirton Steel twenty-five-year club. He retired from the former Weirton Steel Corporation with thirty-one years of service as a Millwright. Leroy’s family describes him as a generous man with a good sense of humor believing in principles and someone who would do anything for his family. They remembered him as a man who enjoyed his family offering his time and opinions to all. The family was quoted as saying, “We not only lost an uncle but a brother and a father to all the children.” His love of the outdoors developed him into an exceptionally good sportsman. That love took him to many different destinations throughout the country, but if you had asked him, he would prefer to stay in West Virginia, noting that it was the best state to hunt. In his leisure time, Leroy enjoyed taking his family on camping trips to Tomlinson State Park, watching dirt track races with his brother, and reruns of Bonanza and Gunsmoke. Left to cherish Leroy’s memory with love and admiration are his brother Lloyd Price of Mannington, WV., Everett Price of Weirton, Lucille Price of Weirton, Loreen Wallace of TN., Lynn Mortimer of Weirton, nieces Jennifer Caleffie, Jessica Hall, Jackie Regg, Sierra Mortimer, and Victoria Price, nephew Jimmy Wallace, great-nephews Alex, Eric and Nick DeLancey, great-nieces Aurora and Annelyse Hall, Adallyn Regg, and great-nephews Owen and Liam Regg. Friends and family will be received Thursday from 3:00 P M – 7:00 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV, where services will be held at 7:00 PM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Rev. William Stout will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Leroy’s memory to Memorial Baptist Church, 121 Ivy Street, Weirton, WV., 26062. Share tributes at www.grecohertnick.com
