Edwin Louis “Tink” Emkey, Jr., of Steubenville, formerly of Baltimore, MD., passed away peacefully after an extended illness on May 8, 2023, at Valley Hospice Care Center North. Tink was 59 years old.

He was born in Baltimore, MD, on January 2, 1964, the only child to Edwin L. Emkey, Sr., and Hilda May McKemy.

Tink grew up in the Baltimore area and he was very street-smart early on in his life; he worked in the Crabbing Industry, harvesting blue crabs.

Tink liked anything fast, from cars to boats, and motorcycles to drag racing. His sister-in-law Carla said, “he lived his life fast and hard; he was a matter-of-fact individual; you always knew where you stood with Tink. You may not have liked what he had to say or how he said it, but you knew he was giving it to you straight.” His opinion made him who he was and for that reason, he was respected by all who knew him.

He was a very giving person, he loved to make people smile through his quick wit, his culinary creations (his cheesecake and pulled pork were among the favorites of his friends.), or just his overall allegiance to his friends was admired by many, if you needed Tink, he was there.

Tink’s wife Angela whom he married on November 12, 2010, was his rock, she was always by his side. They shared countless memorable times together, traveling to Hocking Hills, boating on the Ohio, and of course everyone’s favorite, “Tink’s Weenies and Snowballs!” A food trailer that they were known for and garnered a following around the Ohio Valley. A special recipe of shaved ice and marshmallow cream that he brought with him from Baltimore.

The love he had for his wife Angela and his passion for life, can only hope to be emulated. In his final days his acceptance to his place in life, he found great solace in the conversation he had with Jesus; a conversation that was well received by Angela.

Tink was preceded in death by his father and best friend Tucker.

Left to cherish his memory with love and admiration are his wife Angela Erwin Emkey of Steubenville, his mother Hilda May McKemy, sons Tim (Erika) Emkey, and Kyle (Alex Peckens) Glasure, and daughter Elayna Glasure, ten grandchildren and one on the way, and his two four-legged children, Gus, and Daisy.

Friends will be received on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV., from 11 AM until the 1 PM funeral service.
Pastor John Kotsanos will officiate.

  3. Candle Selection 2Tink I will always love you and miss you very much. You were more like a brother to me than a cousin. I know you are with dad and causing trouble. I am glad I got to see you one last time. Mom loved you like a son and misses you. She said be good and try to stay out of trouble. I love you.

  4. Tink I will miss you terribly but I know you are with Dad and Pop. Tell Dad he was right about everything and I miss him something awful.

  5. To my dear uncle. Sorry I couldn’t make it to your viewing. You are very loved and will be missed very dearly. I always treasured the time you took out your day to spend it with me and just us. I miss when you would pick me up on your bike and we went to go out and eat. I hate you moved away and to far. Levi never was able to meet you. It’s ok because now you can look down on all of us. Hits different when you think about the way things are and you know your chance to see that person will never be again. One day we will see each other again. Love you very much. Rest easy with no more pain.
