eleanor flowers
Eleanor G. Flowers, 90, of Weirton died Monday May 29, 2006 at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born on November 5, 1915 in Steubenville, OH, the daughter of the late Thomas and Maryanna Baran Guz. Eleanor was also preceded in death by her husband, Willard C. Flowers in 1984 and her Four brothers, John, Andrew Frank and Edward Guz, and her sister, Veronica Najdecki. Eleanor worked at the Weirton Steel Tin Mill as a Tin Flopper, where she met her husband. After they married, Eleanor took care of the home, where she loved to do needle work and cook meals for everyone. She was a member of First Christian Church in Weirton, and a member of the First Christian Duty Doers. She was always knitting or making goods for the Church Bazaar or for special needs families for the holidays. Early on she was instrumental in raising money to build the church by cooking and catering meals. Surviving include her son, Rev. Richard Flowers of Plymouth, NC; her daughter, Shirley Martin and her husband Ronald of Mooresville, IN; her brother, Chester Guz of Weirton, WV; her sisters, Julia Nogay, Genovie Dobies, Sophie Slanchik, and Mary Roberts all of Weirton, Anna Salanci of Steubenville, OH; grandchildren, Stephen Martin and Melissa Pino; three step great grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-8 PM on Wednesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV Additional visitation will be held Thursday 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM at First Christian Church, Weirton Rev. Kevin L.
