Eleanor Marie Kelly, 74, of Follansbee, formerly of Weirton, died Saturday March 15, 2003, at her residence. She was born on January 10, 1929, in Steubenville, OH, the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Daugherty Baier. Eleanor was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Catherine Thompson, on April 20, 1992, and her son in law, Robert “Bob” Heil, on February 28, 2003. Eleanor retired after 25 years, as a secretary, for the Brooke County Board of Education. She was a member of the Saint Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Altar Society, D.A.R., Retired School Employees, and a Life Member of the West Virginia P.T.A. She is survived by her husband, Bernard Vincent Kelly, Sr., whom she married on November 23, 1950; her three sons, James Charles Kelly, and his wife Nan, Daniel Patrick Kelly, and his wife Denise all of Weirton, WV, and Bernard Vincent Kelly Jr., and his wife Cherie of Follansbee, WV; her two daughters, Nancy Marie Heil of Roanoke, VA, and Ruth Gianni, and her husband Bobby of Weirton, WV; her two brothers, Charles William Baier of Toronto, OH, and Francis “Bucky” Baier of New Manchester, WV; her sister, Charlotte Thompson of Weirton, WV, and her twelve grandchildren. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Monday and 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Wednesday at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church. Rev. Father Anthony Cincinnati and Monsignor Patrick Fryer will preside. Entombment will follow in Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church or Valley Hospice. I was deepley sadened when I read about Eleanor passing away.I still remember over 50 years ago when this beautiful person took a young boy from the wrong side of the tracks and helped raise him and instill her values of respect,love and family in him.
