Eleanor Ruth Polgar of Weirton, passed away at her home on Friday, March 3, 2023. She was 84.

Eleanor was born on February 1, 1939, in Weirton, WV one of three children born to Dewey and Olive Clark Loy. She lived her early years in New Cumberland, WV.

In 1962, she married Desi Polgar and in their 54 years of marriage they were blessed with four children, seven grandchildren, and eventually three great- grandchildren. Sadly, Desi passed away on July 7, 2016.

Eleanor cherished the times she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She nourished her faith at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church and the Christian Assembly of Follansbee.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by her brother Richard Loy and sister Alice Younciak.

She will be remembered with love and admiration by her children, Dezso Polgar, and Joseph (Barbara) Polgar, daughters, Diana Polgar and Sheila (Dennis) Robinson, grandchildren, Allyson (Tyler) Taflan, David, Jason, Ryan, Arwen, Shawn Polgar, and Dalton Robinson, and great-grandchildren, Carlee, and Cash Taflan, and Levi Polgar.

Friends and relatives will be invited to visit Eleanor’s family at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV., 26062. on Thursday from 4 – 7 pm, where funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday. Joseph F. Cuomo, Pastor of the Christian Assembly of Follansbee, and, Eleanor’s grandson, Mr. Jason Polgar will co-officiate the service.

Entombment will follow in Saint Paul’s Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor’s memory to Ryan’s Prayer of Hope and Healing for Autism C/O Christian Assembly of Follansbee, PO Box 96, Follansbee, WV., 26037. The organization was founded by her grandson Jason in honor of her other grandson, Ryan, who has autism, to help provide help with speech disorders through providing iPads to be used as communication devices.
