Emily Stella Olenick, 89, of Weirton passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in the home of her daughter Constance Joyce in Steubenville, Ohio. Born on August 19, 1923 in Weirton, Emily was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Zak Markowicz. She was also preceded in death by her husband Edmund J. Olenick, daughter Marianne Olenick and two brothers Edward and Adolph Markowicz. Emily retired from C&P Telephone Company where she was a telephone operator for many years and also loved making her house a home as a homemaker. Emily was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, and was involved with the Christian Mothers. She is survived by three sons Vincent P. Olenick (Dorothy) of Dillonvale, OH, Joseph Olenick of L'Orignal, Ontario Canada and Peter Olenick (Layne) of Spring, TX; two daughters Claudia (Evan) Cebula of Little River, SC and Constance (Michael) Joyce of Steubenville, OH; a sister Cecilia Watkins of Weirton; ten grandchildren, Mary Gonzalez, Patrick, Eric and Kevin Joyce, Tricia Kuczmarski, Raeanne, Laura, Thomas, Jenna and Emily Olenick; four great-grandchildren Bianca and Katya Gonzalez, Erin Joyce and Christian Kuczmarski. Friends will be received on Friday from 2-5pm at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church.
