Evelyn Yvonne “Vonnie” B. Myers, 85, of Bethany, WV, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Liza’s Place Valley Hospice Care Center South, Wheeling, WV, with her family at her side. Born April 18, 1932 in Canonsburg, PA, Vonnie was the daughter of the late Francis Addison “Frank” and Mary Evelyn (Miller) Brehm. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Robert E. Myers, PhD on October 15, 2013. After graduating from Bethany College, Vonnie began her career as a teacher- first in Fort Worth, Texas, then Columbus, OH, and finally WV where she served as a substitute teacher for many years in Brooke County. Then, in 1981, she began teaching the third grade at Franklin Primary School and remained there until her retirement in 1998. Vonnie was an active member of the Bethany Memorial Church (Disciples of Christ) and CWF. She belonged to many organizations including the NEA, AARP, and the Franklinettes - just to name a few. Vonnie is survived by her daughter, Kristina E. Felty (Mike Daversa and his son, Daniel) of Hollidaysburg, PA; son, Scott R. Myers (Lisa) of Wellsburg, WV; her four granddaughters, Brionna Myers of Wellsburg, Kaitlyn Felty (Zachery Keppler) of Florida, and Allison and Paige Myers also of Wellsburg; and her special kitty Meg. Visitation will be held Tuesday 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday from 10-11 AM service time at the Bethany Memorial Church, 303 Main Street, Bethany, WV with the Reverend Scott Thayer and the Reverend Larry Barkley co-officiating. Interment will follow at the Campbell Cemetery, Bethany, WV. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the loving care provided to Vonnie by the entire staff at Liza’s Place. Memorial contributions in memory of Vonnie should be made to Liza’s Place Valley Hospice Care Center South, 308 Mount St. Joseph Rd, Wheeling, WV 26003.
