Francis E. “Frank” Zablackas, 77, of Weirton, WV passed away on Wednesday November 30, 2022.
Frank was born on March 12, 1945, in Steubenville, OH, one of six children born to Frank and Sophie E. Yarosz Zablackas.
Frank graduated from Weirton Madonna High School in 1963 and served his country in the United States Navy. On April 1, 1967, he married Carolyn Kamarec and in their 55 years of marriage they were blessed with two sons, a daughter and nine grandchildren.
Frank, also known as “Zab” , provided for his family by working as an operator on the caster before retiring from Weirton Steel after 30 plus years of service.
He was very active until he was diagnosed with COVID 19 a couple years ago. Carolyn and Frank enjoyed traveling on his motorcycle and playing darts. Frank enjoyed rabbit hunting, bowling. Most of all he cherished the times with his family.
He nourished his faith at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sara, and most recently by his brother, John.
He will be remembered with love by his wife, Carolyn Kamarec Zablackas, his sons, Frank (Jackie) and Chad (Kelly) Zablackas; his daughter, Holly Zablackas; his brothers, Larry (Sandy) and Bill (Peggy) Zablackas; his sisters, Carolyn Dennler (Frank) and Christine Benard (Michael); his sister-in-Law, Gretchen Zablackas; and his grandchildren, Skyler, Jake, Chad II, Abby, Katelynn, Elizabeth, Samantha and Andrew.
Visitation will be Saturday December 10, 2022, from 1:00 pm until time of funeral services at 3 pm at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton.
Rev Fr. Binu Sebastion will preside.
Frank will be interred at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy and the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard.

I remember Frank from early childhood through high school. Seeing him infrequently over the years, I was always impressed with his calm demeanor, and his sense of contentment. I know he is greatly missed and loved.
