Frank D Leppar

Frank D. Leppar, 81, of Weirton, died at his residence, August 3, after an extended illness.
A decorated Army Veteran of WWII, he was awarded the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, and the Purple Heart. He served with the famed 7th regiment of the 3rd infantry division in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy, where he was critically wounded at the Anzio beachhead. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 year club, Pleasant Valley country Club, Lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW, and a founding member of the Weirton Disabled American Veterans Club. He also served as an executive of the Tin Mill employees Federal Credit Union. He was a 46-year employee of Weirton Steel, where he retired as an operator on the Tin Mill cutting lines.
He was born in Warwood, WV, on October 14, 1919, to the late, Joseph and Alexandria Cebula Zamoski. Two sisters and 6 brothers also preceded him.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Allen Leppar, two daughters, Anita Cappa and her husband Paul of Sewickley, Pa., Susan Dean and her husband Richard of Charlotte, NC, and one son Frank David Leppar and his wife Sue, of Weirton. He is also survived by a sister Mrs. Patsy (Helen) Palumbo of Weirton, and five grandchildren, David Paul Cappa, Michael and Laura Dean, Frank David III and Jessica Leppar.
Visitation will be Monday, August 6, 2001, from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral, Weirton.
Christian services will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2001, at 11:00AM in the funeral home. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with Military graveside services conducted by the American Legion, VFW and the Tri-State Marine Corps.
