
Frank Joseph Olenick Sr.

Frank Joseph Olenick, 88, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 in Brightwood Center, Follansbee, WV. He was born January 1, 1930 in Weirton, a son of the late Vincent and Dorothy Kubiak Olenick. He was also preceded in death by his son Frank J. Olenick, Jr. in 2001; brothers Edmund, Casimir, Walter and Michael Olenick and sisters Sophia Pipinos, Mary Newman, Laura Markowicz and Anna Abramowicz.
With 40 years of service, Frank retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in the wire gang. After he retired, he worked at Varlas Mobile Garage. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Steubenville, OH and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3734 and Polish National Alliance. Frank loved watching old western movies and was known to assist anyone who needed help. He also had a great love for animals and could be found feeding any stray that he encountered. As the saying goes, Frank never met a stranger.
He is survived by his daughter Cindy; granddaughter Jessica Olenick of Jewett, OH and daughter-in-law Chris Olenick of Dennison, OH.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 am at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. Monsignor Gerald Calovini will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.

Frank was my neighbor for a short time. He was always kind to me and I am glad to have known him.
