Fred H. Wenzel, Jr. 64 of Wellsburg formerly of Weirton ,WV passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Born on December 30, 1961, Fred was the youngest child of Fred Henry Wenzel, Sr. and Frances DeFebbo Wenzel. He was a graduate of Weir High School and spent much of his life working in landscaping.
Freddie was a man whose greatest joy came from helping others. A dedicated member, sponsor, and counselor in both Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, he devoted countless hours to supporting those struggling with addiction. His compassion extended beyond local meetings, as he frequently traveled to correctional facilities to help incarcerated individuals begin their own journeys toward recovery. Through his guidance, encouragement, and unwavering belief in second chances, Freddie touched countless lives.
Four and a half years ago, Freddie found love and companionship with his girlfriend, Jane Iams.
Fred had a passion for riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and enjoyed the freedom of the open road. At home, his life revolved around his dogs, Honey and Little Man, who brought him endless happiness and companionship. He was also known for his generous heart, his willingness to help anyone in need, and for making sure there was always dinner on the table when Jane arrived home from work.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred H. Wenzel, Sr.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Frances Wenzel of Weirton; his loving girlfriend, Jane Iams; his sisters, Kathy Guatteri (Curtis) Quattlebaum and Donna (Ron) Cipriani; his nieces and nephews; his beloved dogs, Honey and Little Man; and many friends, family members, and members of the recovery community whose lives were forever changed by his kindness, mentorship, and friendship.
