Frederick Monroe, 73, of Lancaster, Ohio, formerly Steubenville, Ohio, passed away suddenly on November 8, 2024, at Grant Medical Center.
Born on April 15, 1951, in Steubenville, OH, he was the beloved son of the late John Monroe Sr. and Dolores Monroe.
Fred was a retired Steubenville Police officer of 21 years and was a current Franklin County Municipal Deputy Bailiff of 20 years. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the WVU Mountaineers. He loved to watch his grandchildren play football, cheer, and perform in the high school marching band.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lori Hardwick Monroe.
Fred is survived by his three children: Jodi Monroe of Lancaster, OH, Bryan Monroe of Bethany, WV, and Cierra Hardwick of Newark, OH; seven grandchildren; Lexi, Jayden, Brennan, Zane, Kaleigh, Kathrine, Kyra, and a great-granddaughter named Iris. They were all incredibly important to him and meant the world to him. Additionally, a cousin named Patricia Krause of Cincinnati, OH whom he cherished dearly; a very dear sister-in-law, Carrie Scheetz (Rick) of Weirton, WV, along with three nephews and many dear friends.
As per Fred’s wishes, there will be no visitation, and a private service will be held at the discretion of his family. If you would like to donate, the family kindly requests considering any memorial contributions in his name to a law enforcement foundation of your choice.

Uncle Fred was always an amazing person and I loved him very much. I missed out on a lot of time and I regret that, but my love and my memories never faded.
