Mr. G. Thomas "Tom" Irwin

Gilbert Thomas “Tom” Irwin, 83, of Weirton, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025.

Born on September 20, 1941, in Washington, PA, he was one of three sons of Gilbert M. and Kathryn McMahon Irwin.

Tom was a proud graduate of the first graduating class of Weirton Madonna High School, where he was an active member of the football and baseball teams and the Black Aces. After high school, he furthered his education at Jeff Tech College in Steubenville before embarking on a dedicated 30-year career with Weirton Steel, retiring from Plant Protection.

A veteran, Tom served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed at Fort Knox in preparation for the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Tom had a lifelong passion for classic hot rods, especially Ford Mustangs. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his five grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard E. and Cindy Irwin.

Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Luetta “June” Truax Irwin, whom he married on January 21, 1967. He will be deeply missed by his children, Stephen Irwin (Amy), Robert “Bob” Irwin, Michelle Holb (Rick), and Laurie Pellow (Brian); his brother, Samuel H. Irwin (Susan); and his cherished grandchildren, Braeden and Brooke Holb, Abigail and Alaina Irwin, and Quinn Pellow.

Tom’s wishes were to be cremated.
