Mr. Gary Eugene Gajtka

Gary E. Gajtka of Weirton passed away on December 15, 2023, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was seventy-three years old.

Gary was born on July 12, 1950, one of eight children born to Stanley and Annabelle Jefferies Gajtka.

He attended Hancock County schools and was an avid gambler, traveling to Mountaineer Park and betting on professional and college sports, watching any of the televised NFL games, and his favorite, playing the sheet.

Gary would often be seen walking through the streets of Weirton, saying hello to any who passed his way. He knew numerous people in the downtown area, he will be sadly missed.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lester Gajtka, and sister Shirley Saterides.

Cherishing his memory are his siblings Terry (Kay) Gajtka of North Carolina, Jim (Crystal) Gajtka of Weirton, Darlene Shields of Colliers, Wilma Haspel of Weirton, and Sherry (Matt) Pollock of Wellsburg, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit Gary’s family on Monday, December 18, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, from 2 pm until the time of his 4 pm funeral service.

Pastor James Rhodes will officiate.

Cremation will take place at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory.

Inurnment will be in Three Springs Cemetery.
