Gary Michael Lewis passed away unexpectedly on October 16, 2025, in Seattle, Washington, at the age of 71.

He was born on August 9, 1954, in Weirton, West Virginia, to Dorothy Joan and Harry Milton Lewis. He graduated from Marshall University in 1977.

After moving to Tampa, Florida, Gary built a successful career in sales. He approached his work with enthusiasm and heart, valuing relationships as much as results, and was known as a friend just as often as a colleague. His generosity, humor, and warmth left an impression on everyone he met, both in and outside of the office.

A lifelong sports fan, Gary cheered passionately for the Tampa Bay Lightning while proudly holding onto his Pittsburgh roots with the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. His love of music was ever-present, often turning a favorite song into a moment of shared nostalgia. He brought the same spirit of joy and curiosity into the kitchen, experimenting with new recipes and welcoming anyone to join him at his table, even if only for a quick bite and good conversation. Even if you were stuffed, it was always difficult to leave his kitchen empty handed. Always eager to explore, Gary found happiness in trying something new – whether it was a restaurant, a concert, or an adventure that became a new favorite story to tell.

Gary was a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a beloved brother. As a dad, he was endlessly supportive and proud, offering guidance, laughter, and love. He had an extraordinary gift for connection – he never met a stranger and was constantly looking for ways to help others. More often than not, he was already one step ahead, making introductions or lending support that would ripple into something meaningful. His energy, humor, and generous hear will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He will be remembered for his lively spirit, quick wit, and the way he made everyone around him feel seen and valued. Though his passing was sudden, the joy and kindness he shared will live on in everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gary is survived by his children, Lowell Brunson Lewis and Catherine Devin Lewis, and his siblings, Linda Ann Lewis, Donald Allen Lewis, Brian William Lewis, and Gail Ellen Duke.

A Funeral Mass will be held in Tampa, Florida on Thursday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ the King Parish, with a reception to follow at Blount and Curry Center for Life Services (located at 605 S MacDill Ave). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gary’s life. Burial services will take place on Friday, October 31, with details to be shared for those wishing to attend.
