Gary Truman Miley, Sr.

Gary Truman Miley, Sr., 73, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at his home in Shirley, WV. Born August 15, 1941 in Clarksburg, WV, he was a son of the late Truman Esker and Madeline Matheny Miley. He was also preceded in death by his step-father Paul Haggerty and step-mother Flora Miley; brothers John Miley and Harry "Dan" Haggerty and step-sister Carol Bartlett. After 30 years of service, Gary retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a heater. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the NRA and a former member of the Paris Sportsmens Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Gary is survived by his wife Sue Ann Shreve Miley of Weirton, whom he married on a cold, rainy day on December 1, 1968; son Gary Truman Miley, Jr. of Shirley, WV; daughter Tina (Charles) Elliott of Follansbee, WV; brother Ron (Paula) Haggerty, Sr. of Weirton and grandchildren Cheyenne Miley, Ricky Rodriguez and Ryan Rodriguez. Visitation will be held Monday from 10am until the 1pm funeral service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. The Pastor Kendon Alexander will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
