Genevieve Irene Halapy

Genevieve Irene Halapy, 90, of Weirton died Saturday June 7, 2008, at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born on June 24, 1917, in Weirton, WV, the daughter of the late Thaddeus Kula and Sophie Kula Szczepanski. Genevieve was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Halapy on January 12, 1993; a brother Thaddeus Kula; a sister Virginia Badis. Genevieve was a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and baking. In her free time she loved to play BINGO. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She is survived by her son Leslie and Mary Lou Halapy of Friendsville, MD; her daughter, Andrea and Allen Brown of Weirton; a sister, Jeanette Dolata of Weirton, WV; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at her family's convenience at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with mass will be celebrated 10 AM Tuesday at the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Rev. Fr. Kent Durig will preside. Entombment will follow at the Saint Paul Cemetery.
