genevieve (jean) wojcik
Genevieve (Jean) J. Wojcik, 81, of Morgantown, WV, formerly of Weirton, passed away Thursday, March 04, 2010 at her daughter's home. Born March 17, 1928 in Wheeling, WV, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Rzepka Dobosz. She was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph F. Wojcik on July 5, 1999, brothers Bernard and Father Emil Dobosz. Mrs Wojcik was a homemaker, a longtime member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Weirton, where she was a member of the Rosary Society, Christian Mothers and PTA. Most recently, she was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Morgantown. Jean is survived by her sons Dr. Joseph F. Wojcik, Jr. and his wife Chris Johnson of Kennebunk, Maine and Michael A. Wojcik and his wife Jane of Brookline, MA; daughters Jeanlynn M. Jozwiak and her husband Jeff and Karen L. Cimino and her husband Dan all of Pittsburgh, PA, Mary L. Holubeck and her husband Gary of St. Clairsville, OH and Patricia A. Royce and her husband Dale of Morgantown, with whom she made her home; grandchildren Ted Wojcik; Monica and Erica Wojcik; Nicole and Caity Jozwiak; Zachary, Audrey and Steven Royce; Matthew and Emily Cimino; Brett, Annie, Luke and Garrett Holubeck and brother Edward Dobosz and his wife Betty Mae of Fort Wayne, IN. The family would like to thank Morgantown Hospice, Visiting Homemakers and Senior MONS for the years of services taking care of Jean so she was able to enjoy her time with her family. She met wonderful caregivers, especially Melissa, Carol and Beverly. Jean's love of church and God were so evident. When her health was good, she was very active at Sacred Heart of Mary in various organizations, baking bread and making pierogi and paczki. Jean's work of art was her family. She loved being a mother and grandmother and always made sure of large family gatherings. Her legacy will be the close family unit she created. Through all her illness, she never complained and showed such great endurance. Her grandchildren have learned so much from her character, generosity and perseverance. Friends will be received Friday from 6-9pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30AM Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Walter M. Jagela will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 200 Preston Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062.

Among the many memories I have of your mother is taking a Beginners Polish Class through WVNCC back in the late 1970’s.
