George E. (Putt) Sapos, 79, of Weirton died Saturday January 25, 2014, at the Weirton Medical Center. Born on August 29, 1934 in Weirton, WV, George was the son of the late George F. Sapos and Anne Brinsko Sapos. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Martha Huffman. A United States Army veteran, George retired from Weirton Steel after 30 years of service, where he was a roll grinder in the Strip Steel Roll Shop. His favorite pastimes were shooting pool at the Senior Center, fishing, hunting, picking mushrooms, gardening, and cooking. Putt was a member of Weirton Senior Center, BPOE 1801; Moose Lodge 688, American Legion Post 10, and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. He is survived by his son, Terry Sapos (Jamie) of Lake George Colorado; two nieces, Debra Jean Huffman - Dalton (Larry) and Diane Lynn Romanelli (Joe); a nephew, Paul D. Huffman, Jr.; a great nephew, David DeCollo (Denise). Visitation will be Thursday 12 noon until the time of funeral services at 1 PM at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV Entombment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum, Weirton Share tributes and memories at www.grecohertnick.com

  7. Terry, I feel your sorrow at loosing your beloved father. I only met Putt 2 times. Dave has a lot of respect for this man. I am sorry that I cannot be there on Thursday. I know you have made so many beautiful memories together, that is what life is about. He had to have s sense of humor if you and he are alike. Sorry I did not know him well. He was a wonderful father to you and cherish that.
