george coughenour

George Lee Coughenour passed away on September 2, 2026, at his residence in Weirton, WV. George was born on April 13, 1954, in Pittsburgh, PA, and was a son of Lee and Shirley Perello Coughenour.

George devoted 28 years of his life to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, where he served with distinction as a Master Firefighter on Engine 20. His courage and dedication to serving the community left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, George was a car enthusiast, proudly showing off his many many previous cars with his last being the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro at local car shows and was a proud member of the Pittsburgh Area Camaro Enthusiasts (PACE). He hopes there are great cars and a racetrack where he can continue his passion!

A devoted family man, George cherished his role as husband, father, and grandfather brother and friend. George found immense joy in spending quality time with his family, often visiting parks with his granddaughters and practicing target shooting with his son. He made an awesome seafood medley for his family. which was enjoyed especially by his favorite daughter-in-law. Now he can find Elvis and do a duet, as he felt he sung just like him!

George served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War in Hawaii, embodying the spirit of duty and sacrifice.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sisters, Debra Coughenour and Veronica Coughenour-Baker.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susy Sesler Coughenour, whom he married on May 2, 1998; his son, George (Ashleigh) Black; his beloved granddaughters, Kimber and Jenna Black; and brothers Thomas and Lee Coughenour.
