George Paul, Sr., 85, of Weirton, died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at his daughter’s home in Paris, PA. He was born on February 12, 1920, in Weirton, WV, the son of the late Tedor and Mary (Paul) Pavel. George was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Paul (Hrin) in 1994; a brother, Theodore Paul; and two sisters, Mary McDonald and Victoria Mainetti. George retired from the National Steel Blast Furnace, after 44 years of service, as a Millwright. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army. He was a former P.O.W., Purple Heart Recipient, Life member of the VFW 2716, member of the WSX 25 Year Club, and a member of the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. He is survived by his two sons, George Paul, Jr. and his wife Rosemary of Weirton, and Thomas M. Paul and his wife Sylvia of Wintersville, OH.; daughter, Mary E. Dorsey and her husband James of Paris, PA.; brother, John Pavel of Weirton; sisters, Betty Sims of Weirton, and Genevieve Bobroski of Follansbee, WV.; 6 grandchildren, T.J. Paul and Brian Paul, Lynn Patchin, Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey and Lorrie Crum and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday with the Very Rev. Father Theodore Shomsky presiding. Interment with graveside military services conducted by the VFW Firing Squad, and the Evert Maki American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard will follow at the St. Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 604 Colliers Way South, Weirton, WV 26062.
