George Platt, 89, of Weirton, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Zdinak) Gogul; his father, George Krinock; his stepfathers, Otha Platt and John Gogul; his sisters, Mary Jane (Stanley) Tuchalski and Theresa (Charles) Philipps; his brother, John (Linda) Platt; and his son-in-law, Randall Scenna.

Surviving are his children by the late Ella Mae (Pearl) Platt. Janet Scenna and Michael Platt. Also surviving are his children with Glinda (Bailey) Platt: Jessica (Ken) Whippo, Anthony “Tony” Platt, George-Michael “Georgie” Platt, and Emma (Dominic) Pucci. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

At George’s request, there will be no visitation.

I am so very sorry to learn of this. My sincere sympathy is extended to all of the family. He was quite a storyteller, and I remember being at Janet’s house and listening avidly. I hope memories bring comfort. Please take care of yourselves.

Uncle George lived life to the fullest in good times and troubling times. In recent years he shared great stories about our family. We were blessed to have him so very long. I am keeping Janet, Michael, Jessica, Tony, Georgie, Emma and their families in heartfelt prayer. Special thanks to Aunt Glinda for tending to him in recent years!
