George Sotraidis

George Sotraidis, 96, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at The Wyngate Senior Living Community, Weirton. He was born January 27, 1921 in Weirton, a son of the late Nick and Ethel Gregori Sotraidis. He was also preceded in death by his wife Penelope Bounatsas Sotraidis on December 8, 2015, son Steven Sotraidis, brother Van Sotraidis and sisters Cleo Liedtke and Mary Ameredes.
For 40 years, George worked as a foreman for Weirton Steel in the Tin Mill Mechanical Department. He was a World War II veteran having served in the US Army. He was a member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Paleo Fokiano Society and All Saints Senior Citizens Society. He was also a member of the WSX 25-Year Club, WSX Managers Club, a life member of the VFW Post 2716, VFW Honor Guard and the AARP Chapter 3846.
George is survived by his son Tom Sotraidis and his wife Linda of Fontana, CA.
Visitation will be held Monday from 10 until the 11am funeral service at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. The Reverend Father Frank Milanese will officiate. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.

I loved my visits with Aunt Penny and Uncle George. I always enjoyed hearing stories about the war and Uncle George’s photography. He will be missed!
Mr Sotraidis was one of the most interesting people I have had the privilege of meeting. He shared fascinating life experiences. He will be missed.
