George Stunda, 78, of Weirton died Sunday, June 7, 2015, at the Weirton Medical Center. Born on January 31, 1937, in Steubenville, OH, George was a son of the late George and Stella Bengier Stunda. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years , Rose Marie Jones Stunda , on November 3, 2014; and his brother, John Stunda. George retired from Weirton Steel, where he worked as a Welder in the Welding Shop. He served his country with the United States Army. In his free time, George enjoyed bowling in the leagues, and watching sports on TV. He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, where he formerly served on the Parish Council. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus 3734. He is survived by his two sons, George of Los Angeles, CA and Paul of Steubenville, OH; his three daughters, Denise Moodie of Weirton, WV, Jennifer (Bill) Bouyoucas of Tampa, FL, and Peggy Sims of Steubenville, OH; his five sisters, Joan Underwood, Betty (Joe) Ciancetta, and Marlene(Doug) Mato all of Weirton, WV, Barbara (Joe) Marshall of Wintersville, OH and Nancy (Don) Burton of North Carolina; eleven grandchildren, Alexa, Ashdon, Alyssia, Robert, Gregory, Brittany, Stevie, Christopher, Rosie, Austin, and Amber; and a great grandson, Levi. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited 6 PM Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Thursday, at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 229 California Avenue, Weirton, WV Military Honors will be conducted immediately following the Mass of Christian Burial. He will truly be missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched. I am so glad I had the opportunity to visit my cousins Rose and George and get to know them both.
