George "The Greek" Ataliotis

George "The Greek" Ataliotis, 79, of Weirton, WV, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Lifeline Hospital, Wintersville, OH.
Born December 18, 1936 in Chios, Greece, he was a son of the late Nicholas Ataliotis and Kalliope Psomothitis Ataliotis Korakis. He is also preceded in death by his step father Tony Korakis, his son, Anthony Ataliotis, and brother Louie Ataliotis.
George spent time in a refugee camp prior to coming to America. He arrived in Warren, OH prior to moving to Weirton, WV. He served in the United States Army, and retired in 1982 from Weirton Steel as an electrical repairman and a union steward. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 year club and American Legion. When George wasn't spending time with his family, he enjoyed fishing, playing softball, sharing coffee and conversation with his buddies, and taking care of his automobile collection.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Zatezalo Ataliotis; daughters, Karene Cruz of Philadelphia, PA, Kelly (Ron) Phillips of Weirton and Julie Ataliotis of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Lilly Alevetsovitis of Greece; grandchildren Alexis Majoris, Ron Phillips, Kalen Hendrickson and Kristopher Cruz; great grandchildren Devyn Anderson, Brayden Majoris, Maya Blake, Memphis Blake and Arianna Harda.
Visitation will be held Tuesday 6-8 and Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11.00 AM.
Reverend Father Frank A. Milanese will officiate.
Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton, WV.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

So very sad for my Ataliotis family! I will never forget how he made us laugh with the things he said- and the way he said them!” Rollllllllborta, you and Julia have beeen up to no good, i can tell by you sneaky faces!” How did he know, lol? I could count on you to make me feel like one of your own kids! George, I hope theres a million bungee cords in heaven and car parts as far as the eye can see!! I picture Yaiyai waiting with a hug for you, and no more earthly pain holding you down. Rest easy, till we meet again.

So sorry to hear about Mr George passing. We loved him the short time we knew him. We really appreciate how good ya were to my parents, Malcolm and Ann Thommarson. They love ya too and send their sympathy.
George was sunshine on a rainy day. He always made me laugh., and he always said I made him laugh. He was a good friend always there if anyone needed help. Me and Bob, Josh & Heather will miss him so very much especially all his joking around. Always called Josh a chisler and Josh would tease back he learned from the best. Bob and I are out of town and Josh & Heather live in NV and CA. We are all so sorry to hear of George’s passing and sorry we can not be there to say good-bye. We will keep all he loved in our prayers and George will always be in our hearts. Till we meet again dear friend.

Heartfelt condolences to your family. George was a big part of our family also. I only hope that he finds my Theo Deano in heaven, so they can continue to be friends again. May he rest in peace. Prayers to miss Nancy and his girls.
