Gertrude Irene Ferrar

Gertrude Irene Ferrar, 91, of Wellsburg, WV, formerly of Weirton, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Golden Oaks Residential Board & Care in Follansbee, WV. Born August 2, 1919 in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary L. Mock Kessler. She was also preceded in death by her husband Pat A. Ferrar on February 26, 2009 and brothers Charles E. and Joseph R. Kessler.
Gertrude was a homemaker; a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She moved to Deltona, FL in 1975 and returned to the area in 2001. While in Florida, she was a member of the Deltona Woman's Club, a life-member of the D.A.V. Chapter 92 of Orange City, FL, a life-member of the ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 8093 where she was president for 2 years in Debary, FL and she was a life-member of the Florida District 19, where she was president for one year of the Past Presidents Club.
She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline Mathews and her husband Reverend Bob Mathews of Garrettstown, OH and Deborah Covey and her husband Paul of Steubenville, OH; son Patrick A. Ferrar of Wellsburg; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 1PM Thursday at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of her family.

Gert we will all miss you but trust that Pat, your mother and mine are happy you are with them. That gives us comfort. Rest in Peace. Know that we have always loved you.

Deb and Pat, Deepest sympathies for all the Frohnapfels. As the eldest I remember many fun filled visits with your mom and dad as I grew up and as an adult. Now they are resting with Bill and Eileen.
