Giacomino "Jack" Provenzano

Giacomino “Jack” Provenzano, 71, of Weirton, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Valley Hospice Liza’s Place.

He was born on February 22, 1955, in Belmonte Calabro, Provincia di Cosenza, Italy, the youngest of four children born to the late Gaetano and
Francesca Bossio Provenzano.

At the age of 13, Jack immigrated with his family to the United States, embracing the opportunities of his new home while never forgetting his heritage and Italian traditions. At the age of 25, he returned to Italy for what was intended to be a vacation. Instead, he met the love of
his life, Ida DeLuca. Their whirlwind romance culminated in marriage just 21 days after they met, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned 46 years. Together, they were blessed with three sons, a daughter and a granddaughter.

Jack was the very definition of a hardworking man. He went on to work as a cook at the Bavington Inn, a stocker at
Big Lots prior to devoting more than 20 years to Weirton Steel, working all throughout the mill. When the steel industry changed and he was laid off,Jack’s work ethic never wavered. Following his retirement from Weirton Steel,he continued working at Pittsburgh International Airport.

When he was not working, Jack found his greatest joy outdoors tending to his garden. He also dedicated countless hours to the Northern Panhandle Youth Soccer Association, serving as a soccer coach for many years. His commitment to soccer extended well beyond the years his
own children played.

Jack enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He could often be found watching classic westerns, especially Gunsmoke, cheering on soccer matches, or faithfully supporting his favorite teams, the Italian National Soccer Team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the West
Virginia Mountaineers. His passion for sports, his unmistakable Italian pride, his love for sweets, and his warm personality made him a friend to many.

Jack was a parishioner of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 3734, the ISDA Weirtonian Lodge, the Northern Panhandle Soccer Association, and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Genoveffa Pulice and Elvira Suriano.

He will be remembered with love by his wife of 46 years, Ida DeLuca Provenzano; his sons, Gaetano "Guy" Provenzano, Giacomo (Andrea) Provenzano, and Michele "Mike" Provenzano; his daughter, Franca Julia "Julia" Provenzano; his granddaughter, Angela Valentina Provenzano; his sister, Rosa (Angelo) Santacroce; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended
family members.

Family and friends will be received at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, on Friday August 14th, from 2-8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, on Saturday August 15th at 10 AM. followed by interment at Saint Paul Cemetery.
