giuseppe veltri
Giuseppe Veltri, 82, of Weirton, WV passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Weirton Medical Center. Giuseppe was born February 6, 1934, in Belmonte Calabria, Italy, to Saverio and Anna (Veltri) Veltri. In Italy, Giuseppe earned several Arborist certificates from the Department of Agricultural and Forestry. He served in the Italian Army. But like many his age, Giuseppe was in search of a better life, and traveled by boat to America. In America, he married the love of his life and the two spent 53 years together. They raised a beautiful family, two sons and two daughters, and later were blessed with five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Giuseppe began his career in America by working for Starvaggi Industries. He later was employed by Weirton Steel, where he worked in the Tin Mill, hooking coils. He retired from Weirton Steel after 22 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed pruning trees, gardening, masonry work, making wine and soppressata. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, grandkids, and his friends at the Tea Room. Even though he had many challenges in life, Giuseppe will always be remembered as a man who never gave up. Mr. Veltri was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, Giuseppe was preceded in death by his son, Saverio "Sam" Veltri on October 10, 2010 He is survived by his wife Alba M.
