Helen Marie Sierzego

Helen Marie Sierzego, 91, of Weirton passed away Saturday May 3, 2014, at the Weirton Medical Center.
Born on June 1, 1922, in Toronto, OH, Helen was a daughter of the late Peter and Antonina Demoraczka Exterovich. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Andrew Sierzego on July 13, 2002; four brothers, Pete, Anthony, Raymond, and Joseph Exterovich; and three sisters, Nellie Smurda, Florence Swatek and Frances Trzaska.
During World War II, Helen was a crane operator and worked in the Roll Shop of Weirton Steel. She later worked in the cafeteria for Weirton General Hospital for six years.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Parish, Christian Mothers and Rosary Society.
In her free time, Helen enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends and family.
Helen is survived by her son, Stanley G. Sierzego of Weirton; and many nieces and nephews
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday at Sacred Heart of Mary Parish, Weirton
Entombment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum.

For many years my Aunt Helen and I went to Mass every weekend. Now there is an empty seat in my car and I think about her every time I make that drive to Mass.
