Helen Rose Gabbie, 81, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born April 7, 1933 in New Cumberland, WV, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Amelia Yurko Donovich. She was also preceded in death by her husband , of 61 years, Kenneth A. Gabbie on September 2, 2014; and her sisters, Patricia Donovich and Elizabeth Adams. Mrs. Gabbie was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church; Christian Mothers and for over 25 years was a volunteer with the Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary. For many years she worked with the Democratic Party assisting with rides to the polls. She enjoyed playing cards with her card club and tending to her flowers around her home. Helen is survived by her sons Thomas K. Gabbie and Daniel P. Gabbie both of Weirton; daughters Lisa A. Gabbie of Weirton, Tina M. (Keith) Engleka of Carnegie, PA and Patricia N. (Ramar) Russell of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Andrew and Adam Engleka,, Kalib and Townsend Russell. Visitation will be held Sunday 1- 3 and 5-7 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Monday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Anthony G. Thurston officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Weirton Salvation Army. The Gabbie family would like to thank Rhonda Quatrocchi , nurses and staff of the Weirton Geriatric Center for all the love and care they provided to their parents, Helen and Ken Gabbie.
