Helen T. Echelle
March 15, 1919 ~ February 2, 2003
Helen T. Echelle, 83, of Weirton, was called to rest on February 2, 2003 at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born March 15, 1919 in Lynch, KY, the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Ivan Kmetz, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Echelle, Jr.; her brothers Steve, John and Andrew Kmetz, Jr. and sisters Mary Kmetz Karabaic and Veronica Kmetz Greathouse.
Helen retired from the custom-made drapery department of The Hub in Steubenville. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Weirton, was a 46-year member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Weirton Heights Volunteer Fire Department and a lifelong member of Weirton Radio Watch where she served as past treasurer of both organizations and the Weirtonian Lodge #183.
She is survived by sons, John and his wife Elaine (Lipan) of Weirton, Melvin and his wife Deborah (Nord) of Quincy, MA and Norbert and his wife Leah (Hatcher) of Branson, MO. She has 10 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 4, 2003 from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be Thursday, February 6, 2003, 10:00AM, at St. Joseph the Worker in Weirton.
Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton, WV.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph the Worker Building Campaign Fund, 229 California Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062.

My prayers go out to all of the family. I loved her like a mother and will always keep her in my thoughts and memories and remember all of the laughs and good times we had together. She really loved her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and thats a great comfort and a tribute to her as to the great person that she was. May good memories stay with all of you as I know they will with me. God bless the family for being blessed with such a wonderful Mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother.
