Herbert E. Lashhorn, 93, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Thursday April 2, 2015, at the Wyngate Senior Living Community. Born on January 31, 1922, in Wheeling, WV, he was a son of the late Herbert A. and Virginia Beecher Lashhorn. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anita Ann Kryaninko Lashhorn; and his brothers, Robert Samuel, Charles J. and Mark E. Lashhorn. Herb retired, after 41 years, from National Steel, where he worked in the Weirton Steel Strip Steel Department, as a foreman. He served his country as a Master Sergeant with the United States Army during World War II, and the Korean War. He along with his wife, Anita, for over 32 years organized the World War II 556th Anti -Aircraft Battalion Reunion. Herb volunteered many years of service to the American Red Cross. He was a member of Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Weirton, Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, Weirton Lions Club, and the VFW 2716. He is survived by his two sons, Herbert E. Lashhorn, Jr. (Judith) and David Lashhorn (Jody) all of Weirton, WV; a daughter, Sandra J. Yeske (Bob) of Bloomingdale, OH; grandchildren, Veronica, (Nick) Kuhns, Joshua Yeske, Danny and Steven Lashhorn, Christina Brady; and four great grandchildren, Jonathan and Katlynn, Jacob, and Genova. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be Saturday 10:30AM until time of Funeral Services at 11:30 AM Saturday at the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church, Weirton. Interment will follow at the Saint Nicholas Cemetery, Weirton, with military service conducted. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church 604 Colliers Way, Weirton, WV 26062.
